THE BEGINNINGS

      The beginnings of GELMAN, S.A.L, Workshops go back to the year 1967, when the company was founded, having as its declared objective the construction of rolling equipment and auxiliary machines for industry in general.

      The company converted into a S.A.L. (workers' cooperative) in May 1994 and is located on premises of 10,300 sq.m. on the industrial estate at Ezkio-Itsaso, with installations covering an area of 1,600 sq.m., built on three levels.

Level 1: This level comprises 50% of the area of the installations and is devoted to warehousing and the piece washing section.

Level 2: Manufacturing floor on a rectangular plan divided into the welding, assembly, mechanization, electrical, component warehouse, raw materials and tools and service sections.

Level 3: Technical, administrative and management offices.

      We form part of BASCOTECNIA EMPRESAS AGRUPADAS, a group of companies specialised in the engineering, design and manufacturing of machinery for the iron and steel industry. The group is made up of companies in the maintenance and transport sectors, mechanisation, construction of machinery for the iron and steel industries, rolling equipment, control equipment and cutting systems.

      This group was formed in 1976 in order to join forces and consolidate relations with foreign markets by offering greater resources and a total guarantee for the member companies.

      We also form part of ASLE, a group of cooperative companies in Euskadi, an association of companies promoting the general development of this kind of company.

      The company has the objective of building and repairing auxiliary machinery for industry, especially rolling equipment, as well as the supply of maintenance services for industrial and manufacturing installations.
